The Brigate Rosso or Red Brigade, was a far-left militant organization active in Italy during the 1970s and 1980s. The group was formed in the aftermath of the student protests and worker strikes that shook the country during the late 1960s. The Red Brigade aimed to create a communist revolution and overthrow the capitalist system in Italy. They carried out a series of high-profile kidnappings, bombings, and assassinations, targeting politicians, business leaders, and members of law enforcement. The group's most infamous act was the kidnapping and subsequent murder of former Prime Minister Aldo Moro in 1978. The Red Brigade's violent activities led to a state of emergency in Italy and a widespread crackdown on left-wing political organizations.
