The Baader Meinhof Organization, also known as the Red Army Faction (RAF), was a left-wing militant group active in West Germany during the 1970s and 1980s. The group was founded by Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof, who believed in armed resistance against what they perceived as the capitalist and imperialist oppression of the state. The Baader Meinhof Organization carried out a series of bombings, kidnappings, and assassinations, targeting politicians, business leaders, and members of the security forces. Their actions sparked fear and controversy throughout the country, leading to a massive manhunt by the authorities. Although the organization was eventually dismantled, their legacy and the ideology of armed resistance remains a subject of debate and study.

The 20th century witnessed numerous political struggles that shaped the course of history. From the rise and fall of totalitarian regimes to the fight for independence and civil rights, the world was engulfed in a series of conflicts that challenged existing power structures. The two World Wars marked a turning point, as nations clashed over territorial ambitions and ideological differences. The struggle for decolonization intensified, as countries sought to break free from colonial rule and assert their sovereignty. The rise of communism and the Cold War divided the world into two opposing blocs, leading to proxy wars and geopolitical tensions. The civil rights movements in various parts of the world fought against racial discrimination and inequality, paving the way for greater social justice. These political struggles in the 20th century had far-reaching consequences, shaping the modern political landscape and leaving a lasting impact on society.
