The Baader Meinhof Group, also known as the Red Army Faction (RAF), was a left-wing extremist organization that operated in West Germany during the 1970s. Formed by Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof, the group aimed to overthrow what they perceived as a capitalist and imperialist system. They carried out numerous terrorist attacks, including bombings, assassinations, and kidnappings, targeting government officials, police officers, and business leaders. The Baader Meinhof Group believed in armed struggle and sought to ignite a revolution against the establishment. Their actions caused fear and unrest across the country, leading to a massive manhunt by authorities. Although the group disbanded in the 1990s, their legacy remains a significant part of German history, symbolizing a turbulent era of political violence and radical ideology.
