As an English speaker but not English, it can be quite frustrating to constantly be mistaken for being English by French people. The French have a habit of considering everyone who speaks English, to be English. However, the reality is that there are many more English speakers who are not English than there are English. Canada is one of those countries that speaks English, however, in a particular accent that English speakers recognise instantly. So imagine the frustration when a Canadian person is in France and every French person they encounter asks if they are English.
